Jeffrey D. Montgomery
Jeffrey D. Montgomery is the Founder and President of Montgomery Financial Services LLC. He is an Investment Advisor Representative and holds a Series 65 securities license as well as Life/Health and Disability licenses in States of Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia.
Jeff is passionate about coaching and educating retirees to help them achieve a greater understanding of risk & reward and how creating a comprehensive plan for retirement could achieve greater peace of mind. Many students have commented on his unique ability to simply explain concepts and inspire them to achieve a life of wealth and abundance.
After Graduating from Towson University in 1991 with a Degree in Business and Economics, he worked for the well-known mutual fund company T. Rowe Price in Baltimore Maryland where he specialized in investment services. He brings over 20 years of experience working with Retirees in planning and executing some of the largest financial decisions they will ever make. He understands the importance of planning for a financially secure retirement. Without a plan, the results could be devastating.
Jeffrey works as a Financial Coach and Investment Advisor Representative through his Registered Investment Advisory firm, Montgomery Financial Services LLC.
The dynamic process gives Jeffrey’s clients the opportunity to reach higher levels of peace of mind and wealth, while eliminating unnecessary confusion and anxiety. He accomplishes this by engaging his clients in a process that combines a comprehensive financial analysis of their current portfolio, Nobel Prize-winning investment philosophy, and educational events to teach the discipline necessary for a lifetime of investing success.
Jeffrey works primarily with individual’s ages 40+ including pre-retirees, retirees, seniors and affluent small business owners – helping them grow, protect and distribute their financial assets. He conducts public educational seminars and gives talks at retirement centers, businesses, and other locations in the Delmarva area. His topics often include areas of behavioral finance and helping clients deal with the scary emotions that come with investing. Investor coaching is so important to Jeffrey that he equipped Montgomery Financial Services corporate offices with a state-of-the-art financial resource center where he and his staff educate clients on their investment strategies in a high-tech classroom environment.
Outside of work, Montgomery resides in Berlin Maryland with his wife and two children. He enjoys the outdoors and is an avid boater. He enjoys the sports of Basketball and Golf.
Joani Gursky is the Director of Operations at Montgomery Financial Services. She has been with the company since 2012 and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company including processing client applications and transfer forms, handling account deposits and withdrawals and ensuring that client Required Minimum Distributions are satisfied.
Joani provides a friendly voice when calling our office and is willing to assist clients and prospective clients in any way possible.
Joani holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Literature from Salisbury University. She resides in Berlin, MD with her husband and 3 very active boys. When not attending soccer, basketball and baseball games, Joani is a Berlin Little League Board Member and enjoys reading.
Edward J Loftice is an Investment Advisor Representative and holds a Series 65 securities license, as well as, Life/Health and Disability licenses in the States of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. As a Financial Coach and Investment Advisor Representative with Montgomery Financial Services, LLC, Ed continues to educate retirees and those who are close to retirement through personal, one on one, consultations and workshops he conducts throughout the region. He informs retirees of current information and options available to them to assist in their pre and post-retirement planning. “A big concern amongst retirees today is running out of money. It is very rewarding when we’re able to coach them to understanding the importance of planning and help to provide them with a greater peace of mind for the future.”
Ed started his career in financial services in 1997 with The Advantage Retirement Group located in Eldersburg, Maryland. While with the company, Ed continued to educate the public about retirement planning by conducting over 1,000 workshops and seminars throughout the East Coast. Prior to his career in financial services, Ed owned and operated a custom home building and remodeling business.
Ed has built strong ties to the Sykesville/Eldersburg area since his parents moved the family there in 1973. He still resides in Eldersburg, Maryland with his wife and daughter and three dogs. His son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter also live in Eldersburg. In his spare time, Ed plays guitar and enjoys golfing. Ed has been involved in the community youth sports programs where he has coached both of his children’s teams as they were growing up, and continues to support local youth and high school sports programs.
Nicholas C. Craven is an Associate Wealth Adviser at Montgomery Financial Services LLC. He is a licensed insurance agent in the state of Maryland. Additionally, Nick has passed the Uniform Investment Advisor Law Examination: Series 65, and is licensed with the state of Maryland as an Investment Adviser Representative.
Although he is young, Nick is no stranger to the realm of finance. Having spent over 3 years under the mentorship of MFS CEO Jeffrey Montgomery, Nick is well rehearsed in the art of determining the best financial plan of action for each individual client. As a junior advisor, Nick’s supportive role is primarily focused on client acquisition, recommendations, and continuing relationships. Occasionally, Nick will aide Jeff in circumstances that require a team of advisers to satisfy a clients needs. However, when he is not in his supportive role, Nick primarily works with newer and younger investors, whom he helps to reach their goals by educating and coaching the ideology of passive management.
Nick graduated in 2016 from Bucknell University, where he studied Economics and History. While attending, he was a member of the Bucknell Football team and played Defensive Tackle. Nick enjoys, duck hunting, boating, and working out in his spare time.
Ed began his career assisting families through the challenges of pursuing their dreams of owning a home. For 18-years Ed worked in new home sales, working his way to the title of Divisional Manager where he was recognized for his exceptional customer service. As a Divisional Manager he was responsible for managing over $100 million in revenue per year.
Ed transitioned from home sales to become the Regional Director of Operations and Risk Management for 11 skilled nursing and long-term-care communities. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations, Ed was responsible for planning, budgeting and implementing multi-million dollar projects.
Ed holds a life insurance license in the state of Maryland and will assist pre-retirees and retirees with their retirement goals at Montgomery Financial Services, Inc.
Ed has a strong foundation in the community, residing in the Carroll County/Howard County area for 46-years. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys camping and hunting with his son and his daughter.
Merrie joined Montgomery Financial Services in 2010 bringing with her over 20-years of managerial and sales experience as a jeweler. She is responsible for setting up our educational workshops and client seminars and ensuring that all goes accordingly at those events. Often, Merrie schedules and confirms client appointments. Merrie feels that, “our clients are like family to us, I love being part of a company whose core values is to put our clients first.”
She resides in Berlin, MD and is an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church where she has served as a Sunday school teacher since 1991.
